Here you’ll find answers frequently asked questions about CryptoSkat.
If you can’t find an answer to your questions here, they are very likely answered in our guides available on the homepage. You are of course also welcome to reach out to our support and we will answer asap.
Can I start out with a free intro subscription and upgrade later?
Yes. And when you upgrade your subscription this way you will keep already imported transaction data and the automatic weekly update of data via the API integrations to your exchange accounts that you have set up before upgrading.
Why is the Danish tax legislation constructed in such a way that I am taxed far more heavily on gains than I can get a deduction for losses?
Because specific tax legislation has not yet been made in the same way as is the case for trading shares and other asset classes.
It can feel unfair. In our view, it is only a matter of time before more targeted tax legislation is adopted in an area and asset class that is under rapid development.
How can I easily and automatically import data my transaction trades?
You will find guides on how to easily set up and use CryptoSkat here.
Which exchanges do you support via API?
Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, Kucoin and Bittrex. We are continuously working on building API support for other exchanges, both CEX’es and DEX’es.
Which coins/tokens do you support?
All coins and tokens are supported by CryptoSkat. Specifically: All coins/tokens listed on exchanges supported via API are supported and all coins/tokens can also be imported via our generic CSV-format.
Which blockchains do you support?
All blockchains. All coins/tokens (and their underlying blockchains) listed on supported exchanges are supported and all transactions with all coins/tokens can also be imported via our generic CSV-format.
Can I pay my CryptoSkat subscription with crypto?
Unfortunately not yet. Regulation accepting payments in crypto makes this payment option difficult for us to implement currently. Our payment options are the usual options you will recognise from other online shops – an encrypted card payment solution in DKK done through Stripe.
Is it safe for me to upload API-keys to my exchanges to CryptoSkat?
Yes. But note: You should always(!) use API keys with “read only” rights for your exchange accounts. That way, no one can use the API keys for anything other than reading data. We have created detailed instructions on how to create such read only keys on the individual exchanges. The instructions are available as step-by-step guides when you set up your exchange integration with CryptoSkat.
Do you send my transaction data to the Danish Tax Agency?
No. CryptoSkat only calculates gain and loss on your crypto transactions. We encrypt your data to ensure it remains safe. How you do your tax return and submit data to authorities in that context is your business only.
Which wallets do you support?
We support Exodus, Ledger, Trezor, Metamask og MyEtherWallet using an individual CSV format. In this regard you can follow an wasy step-by-step guide for quickly uploading your transaction data once logged in.
We support all wallets via a generic CSV solution which, however, requires more manual data input from your end.
